Thanks for that info you gave me a few idea's I quite fancey trying with my old joypad with the pincacle software. I never thought about making the stick linked to the mouse. when the anolog stick centres does it centre the mouse ?
Yeah after alot of fiddling around I sorted out the problem, not sure what I exactly did to fix it but after a good few calibrations in windows it behaved correctly (im guess somehow the calibrations got completly screwed somewhere). Even with this sorted i still found the anolog still too sensitive! so far I reverted back to my Logitech rumble pad as the anolog sticks are slight largers so more control . Still even this joypad is too sensitive for my liking. was looking forward t ohaving breaks and accelerator on the triggers but ill survive.
On a side note if your having problems with setting up the xbox 360 pad try "pinacle game profiler", pretty much works with any joypad and lets you change settings (still too sensitive) although its only a 30 day trial unless you but the full version. So far the only real setting which helped with the sensitivity issues was anologue smooth steer in the LFS options but it would be a dream come true if it went past the maximum of 0.95. sorry for blabbing on a bit!
Ill try the drivers with a 360 pad with a cord and see what happens. So far got 3 joypads and been testing them but for me the sensativity is still to high on all of them, also did you type a mistake with the anolog smooth steer being on 5? On my lfs the maximum amount of anolog smooth steer only reaches 0.96 .
EDIT: Found a problem with my setup, all the setting on my 360 pad seem fine out side of LFS but in game LFS allocates the axis's differently and will only pickup my left anolog stick as a form of button, meaning when i tilt the anolog stick left it instantly moves the furthest left possible( same for all directions) But my right anolog seems to be working fine? seems weird that lfs is detecting it as a form of button/dpad??? any help?
May I ask how the anolog sensitivity is on those drivers? on the XBCD's ones I find it still way too sensitive and cant find a way to cahnge it as things seem a bit muddled up . Also any other ingame options to make the anolog stick less sensitive? iv tried anologo smooth steer on 0.96 (max) and got very low Max Steering locks on the setups. Cant get the damn thing anyless sensitive and its driving me nuts!
ps are those drivers only for the 360 wireless controllers?
Probably something else in the system letting it down. Iv got 8800 gt and tested it with 19 ai cars at start grid of 45 fps. Guess it depends on what you have backing up you graphics card, so you gonna revert back to your old graphics card if it runs better then?
I use manual sequential gears and manual clutch, im using joypad and have adapted to it. Also iv seen alot of mouse players using manual gears and manual clutch. "blipping and dipping" is no problem if you learn how to adapt to it.
Actually just remembered something on topic and noticed. IF some files have similar or same names for example maybe ending in ".dem" my computer detects them as half-life 2 demo's (even when there not)? Maybe there was some confusion with the unistall program of steam . But then again it should only delete Files i ncertain folders
But surley (stop calling me shirley) that "free" is used in a different context. Steam (you could argue) is actually something useful unlike your suggestion of gonorrhea. well maybe I should put it in your perspective? If you had to chose would you rather have "gonorrhea" for free or would you rather have gonorrhea-live gold membership for £50 which basically does the same. I know which I would want if I had to choose!
I also dont see how deleting steam would cause this, also I dont understand people slagging steam off. If microsoft got their filthy hands on it they would charge a fee like x-box live for pc games. Infact I read somewhere they were going to make a service like x-box live for the pc but the main reason was its largest competitor steam was FREE! Just remember that ITS FREE unlike x-box live.
Im with Polyracer, I have had s2 for a while but I go on Demo servers more than s2. If you go on the right servers at the right time you can meet some of the more hardcore racers, and the fact that they only have 1 track to practice on witha few cars means there very competative and fast racing. But then with it being the demo you do get alot of idiots roaming around.
Im not quite sure about the change, it has made it quite a bit harder to pass people at the end of the long straight with the corner being alot tighter so sometimes if none of you are willing to pull back someone can end up in the grass/dirt (this is in xfg). But on the other hand I seem to be lapping alot faster than everyone else . (so far anyway! I hope they dont catch up!) In the end the changes have been made and iv adapted quite well so im ok with it so far.
I like the idea tracking S2 players in demo as I race alot in demo servers still. The problem I would see with this though is to properly track stats in demo servers you would have to track the demo users aswell to update your stats on positions race wins ect. This may be a bit of extra work for lfsword servers but they should handle it. ALSO!!! I always thought having lfsworld stats were an added incentive to upgrade to S2 and letting it record demo users stats gives them more of an excuse to stay put. 2nd of all I am not sure what much more stats they could show(also yellows flags on a demo server would be hectic with all the crashers!) and think the amount they DO show at the moment is truly amazing. I must say lfsworld is an excellent feature to this game/sim.
Im happy with how every thing is at the moment, any added features would be more icing and cherries on the cake
No opinions or replys, and only 60 views Thought this was a simple enough question but maybe theres not enough interest in this subject. In all honesty I was looking for more support from joypad user's which im aware of is a smaller comunity
Small question? Would it be possible to Extend the anologue steer smooth ratios longer? At the moment its maxs at 0.95 and i know its been extended from 0.92 in an older patch? Would it be possible to extended it to a point where most controllers are extremly slow to almost stop? This may sound bizzare but iv been testing joypads recently and its a bugger getting the sensitivity to a reasonable rate. So iv been using this function as a sort of "sensitivity setting" for joypad anologue sticks. Problem is most anologue sticks react very differently so 0.95 may be slow on one but still maybe quite loose on another. I also know there are other ways to decrease the sensativity such as "steer centre reduction" and "max steering lock" , also out of game softwares such as "logitech profiler" (ps does anyone else have trouble with logitech profiler being ignored by lfs?, it detects the deadzones but theres only a tiny difference between 1% sensitivty and 100% sensitivity).
Ps sorry for this long winded probably confusing post, its late im very tired and probably typing aload of crap, prolly wrong section. Either way leave your thought on this and I would be thankful.
By taking out auto blip and cut I fear the learning curve of this game got quite alot steeper, none the less you may says its simple enough but to some one who's new to game/sim could find it very confusing! I found it quite confusing at first and quite hard as im trying to cut and blip on ps2 joypad. After a few days iv got the hang of it and lapping quite faster than alot of other people! I would suggest someone make a quick tutorial on how to cut and clip and what it actually does as I have a feeling a few new drivers may ask this question quite frequently, then you could just direct them to it!
I found this new patch ahrd to deal with but im happy with my progress so far with the joypad still!
May I ask what date patch Y is out? also when will the WorldRecord hotlaps be deleted on lfsworld? (guessing when the patch if officialy release?) Thanks
ps not seen some one do a 1:33 on blackwood yet in XFG but I think its possible, 2 days of kaning it and managed 1:34.34 with mistakes!
Yeah clutch is easy to burn out, personal best at blockwood in xfg at hotlap pace is 7 laps! Maybe they should add a "changing gears" part in the lessons for us clutch destroyers! (could some one point out how to use it properly?) so far im using auto clutch with sequential gears adn still burning it out. I let off the throttle when changing up gear, do i need to apply throttle when changing down a gear? like throttle blip used to do ?
As for driting iv not tried it yet but if tyres popping early all I can think of is maybe upping the tyre pressure(not sure, but if i remember harder pressure means tyres stay colder for longer?im not that technical with setups )? and pitting more regular
Don't think RHD or LHD makes much difference, I think its all preference and what your comforatble with. I although being English prefer LHD as it would easier to immitate the WR sets which were LHD. If I could give any tips at the moment forcing your self to drive faster may pay of sometimes but you will probably crash more. More or less aim for consistancey. Once you hit that time a few times you will accidently get faster and pickup more track knowledge. Also watch other peoples replays to see what they are doing!
Edit: just looked at replay.
In my opinion I would not concentrate on the first split as you have it pretty fast, ( just aim getting that consistant!). With a 31.28 first split you could get a 1:33.50 easy peasey. So this means you lose time in the second and third splits. Mainly you could be carrieng a few more mph in a few of the corners. Also I would like to praise you on smoothe steering.(helps alot carrying speed around corners).
Once you get the second and third split up to speed and you facey shaving more time off I would suggest looking at manual clutch and gears (watch replays where people "skip" gears entering the first corner). have fun!
Tried the setup! was not slippy at all! was nice and grippy. First problem i came across was the massive Max Brake per wheel, when i braked for first corner it locked my wheels and i thoughtIi was gonna crash through the wind screen! did about 1:34.15's. So now I altered the braked to my likeing. For me this was a lot better and hit 1:33.75's. Noticed i was losing a bit of power in the gear changes while braking so changed the final drive to Locked Diff. With this i managed a 1:33.58 which aint to shabby at all! If I practiced more with it I could probably get the time a little lower.
Maybe the reason your tyres are not lasting is because of the large amount of brakes per wheel you use as it seems to lock the brakes causing the car to skid and create bald/flat spots (think that happens on this game?) for brakes per wheel I used
Max per wheel 569 nm
Brake balance (front) 68% if your interested
quite a nice set but I also tend to do what you did and modify others sets
Without warming the tyres I fine that around 10 laps my tyres are the optimal warmth to hitting personal records. Tyres on the xfg can last many laps iv even raced a 50 lap race with only slight degraded perfromance enar the end. And Spils! I hope that was a joke as iI refused to believe you can ruin the tyres whithin 5 laps unless you locking the brakes or sliding/drifting alot. I used pbu's inferno set for the 50 lapper and was amazed at its performance!
I use Logitech Rumble Pad 2 Joypad (similar shape to ps2) I have managed to get quite fast with it and deffinatly alot better than keyboard in my opinion, never tried mouse so cant compare.
Another tip foe people using LOGITECH joypads, if your still having trouble with sensativity on anolog sticks look for a program called "Logitech Profiler" allows you to edit further sensativities and dead zones out side of the game.
Funny I saw that today, im a Rossi fan and use it as my driving nickname. What makes it all the more funny is I pulled the exact last lap manouver racing xfg's and unfortuanltly knocked the other guy off the track. Only Difference was, I slowed down to let him through again but have the admin in 3rd place see RED and come flying at me at 80 mph! This in the ended with me being kicked and a short temp ban a few races later from the S2 server which was extremly harsh :P.
I did have honour by pulling over but then was ruined by the admin aiming his car at me at 80 mph
